![]() ![]() What truly stands out about this film is its political undertones. Despite her relatively small role, Luna Lovegood's character brings a welcome touch of lightness to the otherwise dark script, aside from the Weasley twins' pranks. Interestingly, she was initially a minor character in the books but made her movie debut in this installment. I haven't read the books, but it seems that a significant amount of content was left out to accommodate time constraints and streamline the plot. The director change (again) and new screenplay writer may also be contributing factors to the distinct tone. The introduction of a new crew could also be a factor, but the subject matter itself might be another reason for this shift. As the series progresses, the story takes a darker and more ominous turn. With their warnings about Lord Voldemort's return being dismissed, Harry and Dumbledore become targets of the Wizarding authorities as an authoritarian bureaucrat seizes power at Hogwarts.
